Strength means knowing when you don’t have to do it alone
About Jesse Eckert, MACP, M.Sc.
I work with men who feel stuck, behind, or caught in patterns that aren’t working in their relationships, habits, or sense of direction. Many of the men I work with are thoughtful and capable, but find themselves struggling with communication, procrastination, alcohol or gambling, or feeling like they’re not where they should be.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’re used to handling things on your own. You don’t need to have it all figured out to begin.
My background includes work in sustainability, non-profit, business development, and frontline public service, where I regularly worked with people navigating mental health challenges, substance use, conflict, and crisis. I’ve also taken risks through business ventures and built projects from the ground up. These experiences shape how I understand responsibility, stress, uncertainty, and the pressure many people carry to hold things together.
Like many of the men I work with, I’ve had my own challenges with relationships, communication, anxiety, ADHD, and the ongoing process of understanding myself. I know what it’s like to feel capable in some areas of life and stuck in others, and the frustration of knowing something needs to change without being sure how.
I don’t approach therapy as an expert fixing a problem, but as someone willing to work alongside you with honesty, curiosity, and respect.
My approach is calm, direct, and grounded. I’m comfortable with strong emotions, honest language, and moments of humour alongside difficult conversations. We’ll focus on what’s actually getting in the way and build practical steps forward at a pace that feels steady and realistic.
If you’re looking for a therapist who understands both the internal and external pressures men carry, and who approaches the work with respect and realism, I’d be glad to work with you.
